Well, Rush doesn't have at least one fan in his pursuit of the St. Louis Rams.
That fan? NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Ouch. Here's what Goodell had to say, according to Sean Leahy of The Huddle:
"I've said many times before, we're all held to a high standard here," Goodell told reporters, via the New York Times.
"I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL –- absolutely not."
Limbaugh said last week he's part of a group trying to buy the Rams. Colts owner Jim Irsay was the latest to express disapproval for Limbaugh's bid when he said he would not vote to approve such a deal. (NFL owners must vote to approve new owners of teams.)
Goodell specifically took exception with Limbaugh for his controversial comment about Donovan McNabb in 2003 when he worked as an NFL analyst for ESPN. Limbaugh suggested the media wanted McNabb to succeed because he is black.
"The comments Rush made specifically about Donovan, I disagree with very strongly," Goodell said, via the Times.
"It's a polarizing comment that we don't think reflect accurately on the NFL or our players. I obviously do not believe those comments are positive and they are divisive. That's a negative thing for us, obviously."
WHY WON'T ROGER GOODELL LET RUSH LIMBAUGH BE GREAT? Huh? Because he's kind of a jerk? OK then.

If Rush's bid is high enough he WILL be an owner in the NFL. The NFL isn't about ethics or morality. The NFL is entertainment. Entertainment that is for sale. Owners aren't stupid- they understand attention=ratings=$$. The owners will set aside their indignatiion long enough to cash the check.
That should pretty much sum up this thread...interesting storefront.
I stopped watching pro football years ago. Too many idiots and too much BS. Give me a good college game any day. But for Goodell to question Rush when the league is full of criminals and thugs... Absurd. Add this to the coming whine-fest when it's time to negotiate a new union contract, and you're going to see a lot of people walk away from the NFL.
...but dat hypocritical, racially-divisive, fatstuff/surgically slim, (former?) drug user has every right 2 make a bid 4 the Rams...n' if the other owners approve it, he has every right 2 run dat team as he and his partners see fit!
Now...iz DAT what We'd like 2 see? Of course not. BUT...this iz STILL America...even when some a' our citizens act like it's amerikkka.
What if one a' Us became soooo F'n RICH We could afford 2 be majority ownerz of an NFL team, but then all them rethuglikkkan ownerz decided U or We wuz jus' TOOOO DAMN "liberal"/progressive?

P.S. We can HARDLY believe We in agreement w/ cunty on ANYthang, but in this case, he's somewhat right.
We don't think rush limpballs would fire ev'ry Black man on his team...but We would hope dat theze brothaz would find their ballz n' NOT play 4 'im...thereby makin' it by default the worst team in da NFL.
...'cuz We ALL know white boys CAIN't jump....OR catch a Black man. = )
