Rodney King Arrested Again
Fresh from our "Alcohol is a helluva drug" file, Rodney King has been arrested again, this time for suspicion of driving under the influence. King, whose videotaped beating by police ultimately led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, was arrested on Tuesday, police said.
According to the article, King was behind the wheel of a 1994 Mitsubishi when he was pulled over in Moreno Valley, in Southern California's Riverside County, the city's police department reported. Officers saw King, who has acknowledged a long-standing drinking problem, commit "several traffic violations," a police statement said.
"A preliminary evaluation of the driver indicated he was possibly driving while impaired. The subject was transported to the Moreno Valley Police Department for a further evaluation," police said. He was booked after that further evaluation, they said.
How sad is it that at this point in life, King appears to still be battling alcohol? Even a stint on Celebrity Rehab appears to have been in vain. Alcoholism is hard to beat, as evidenced by King, who manages to keep it together for a little while and then fall back on old habits. Relapses are part of recovery, but driving drunk, allegedly, is unacceptable. King needs a permanent designated driver and a new stint in rehab.
