Pastor Creflo Dollar Calls Dust-Up 'Emotional'

On Sunday, following roaring applause from his World Changers Church International parishioners, Pastor Creflo Dollar delivered his second statement regarding his recent arrest, in which he was charged with simple battery and cruelty to children earlier this week. According to officials, after an altercation between Creflo and daughter over whether she could attend a party, the 15-year-old was left with a visible injury on her neck.

Dollar was released from Fayette County jail on $5,000 bond. After his wife Taffi thanked the congregation for their support and before he gave his weekly sermon, Dollar delivered the following words from the pulpit:  

Raising children in our culture of disrespect is a challenge for all of us who are parents. As a church family, I want you to hear personally from me that all is well in the Dollar household.

Like all of us who are parents, there are times when disciplining and training our kids can become pretty intense. I have been professing what the Bible says for years about teaching and training our children, I believe there is a powerful destiny and a divine assignment on the inside of each one of my children. I know that all five of them are going to be great exploits in the kingdom of God ...

The truth is that a family conversation with our youngest daughter got emotional, emotions got involved and things escalated from there. The truth is, she was not choked, she was not punched. There were not any scratches on her neck but the only thing on her neck was a prior skin abrasion from eczema. Anything else is an exaggeration and sensationalism.

I can imagine ... if I punched my kid, it would hurt her. If I choked my kid, you would see visible signs on her neck. But to come and take a picture of a mark that's been there for ten years and not have enough intelligence to at least ask the parent what it is, is appalling. Again, I would never approach one of my children to intentionally inflict bodily harm. I love my children enough to establish proper boundaries and help them make right choices.

Following his statement to the crowded arena, before he gave his sermon, Dollar explained that the sermon's message was crafted several weeks ago and was not related to this week's events.
