Obama's Day, Feb. 22: Breaking Ground on a Black Museum

In the morning, the President will deliver remarks at the construction site of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. The museum is scheduled to open in 2015 and will be the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history and culture. The First Lady will also attend. This event is open to pre-credentialed media.
Later, the President and the First Lady will host a reception in honor of the groundbreaking of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in the East Room. This event is closed press.
