Obamas to Appear on Oprah
Last week, reps were denying reports that Oprah would pass on publicly supporting Obama's race for the 2012 presidency, for fear of alienating Oprah Winfrey Network viewers. (The rumors started when a source told gossip website Pop Eater that she couldn't risk it because, "Unlike in 2008, when a drop in ratings didn't matter as much for the Queen of TV, Oprah is now fighting every day to get people to tune in to OWN.")
Today the Huffington Post reports that the president and first lady will tape an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show on April 27, when Obama has to be in Chicago anyway for a series of fundraisers. The show will air on May 2 and will most likely be Oprah's final on-camera chat with the first couple.
This doesn't officially constitute "public support." But dedicating one of the last precious episodes of her program to the Obamas speaks for itself about what the Queen of Talk thinks about the 2012 race, if you ask us. (And does anyone really believe she's torn between Obama's candidacy and the threatened one of billionaire Birther Donald Trump, anyway?)
