First Lady Leads Group to Break Jumping Jacks Record
First lady Michelle Obama must love herself some Kris Kross, because she loves to "Jump, Jump."
The first lady announced in a video on the White House website that more than 300,000 people around the world participated in an October event to break the world jumping jacks record.
Mrs. Obama led more than 400 kids on the White House South Lawn this past October, and over a 24-hour period, people from across the globe participated in the event sponsored by National Geographic in support of the first lady's Let's Move initiative to promote physical fitness and healthy eating. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, they smashed the record for participants by about 20,000.
"I want to thank every parent and every teacher who helped out along the way," the first lady said. She also stressed that fitness isn't a one-day thing but an everyday commitment.
