Democratic Lawmaker: 'F--k the President'
Roll Call is reporting that an unidentified Democratic lawmaker was so upset with President Barack Obama's decision to compromise with Republicans over tax cuts that he screamed out "F--k the president" while Rep. Shelley Berkley was defending the package. According to Roll Call, Berkley confirmed the incident but declined to name the lawmaker. Roll Call also reported that Rep. Jerrold Nader was also overheard saying that "we can't trust him" not to cave to Republicans and extend the tax cuts again in two years. As Democrats tried to block the bill from coming to the floor, chants of "Just say no!" could be heard by reporters.
"F--k the president"? Those are strong words. We're wondering where that anger and passion was when Republicans literally held unemployment benefits hostage. We're wondering why the lawmaker is still unidentified. If you can say things like "F--k the president," shouldn't you be willing to stand by it? We cannot imagine a Republican lawmaker saying that about a fellow Republican lawmaker. For some reason, we can imagine a Democratic lawmaker spewing venom against his elected leader. One can always disagree with the president, but respect should be somewhere in the equation.
