Crazy Talk: Obama Is 'Not Smart Enough'
Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) addressed a town hall Saturday, discussing his disagreement with President Obama on the issue of ending deportations of undocumented people brought to the United States as children. "Fair's fair," he said, adding, "You want to debate on the law? Fine, have that debate."
And then he proceeded to present his side of the debate "on the law."
Or rather, we would have hoped that he would discuss the substance. Instead he decided to elevate the dialogue on the issue in his own special way. How? Pretty much just by calling the president stupid.
He explained that he was taking back his description of the president as a "tyrant" for his recent actions, saying, "I don't want to give him that credit because I don't think he's smart enough ... I don't want to call him a 'tyrant' because he really isn't smart enough to know what that means."
Really, though? Not smart? Has Walsh noticed that his peers have run through every absurd criticism of Barack Obama ("socialist," "foreigner," "out of touch," etc.) without even touching that one? There's a reason for that. The statement is so bizarre that it makes someone end up coming across as less than intelligent. But that person is not the president.
