It looks like Bob McDonnell will take the helm as Virginia's governor. From the AP:
Republican Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell's victory in Virginia over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds was a triumph for a GOP looking to rebuild after being booted from power in national elections in 2006 and 2008. It also was a setback for the White House in a swing state that was a crucial part of Obama's electoral landslide just a year ago. The president had personally campaigned for Deeds.
Is this Obama's fault? That can be reasonably argued 'til know not when. Will he be blamed? Absolutely. Expect reasonable cogent arguments and critiques to be overshadowed by sophomoric Nobel Peace prize jabs and the like.

I think they relate it to Obama because his personality is so large and his coattails so long. He did spark a movement in 2008, and the light was beaming. These 2009 election discussions are only relevant in the sense of analyzing whether the magic pixie dust is drying up.
I don't even think Obama campaigned in VA nor did Deeds ask. LOL!
When his opponent had Obama stumping for him and running a major TV ad blitz featuring Obama? Yeah. It has a lot to do with Obama and the fact that people, having now gotten beyond the media hype and the "hope and change" smoke and mirrors, are realizing how incompetent and unworthy of being President Obama really was.
I blame the Republicans. Anyone except McCain would have been a better choice.
You knows its really sad that people literally attribute every political event whether good or bad, big or small to Barack Obama. I think Im going crazy and the world is sane because from my understanding governor elections are based on local conditions and overall welfare of the state. If you do a good job your party wins if bad the opposition wins. Governors don't vote on federal legislation so I'm trying my best to understand what this has to do Obama?
