Don't Hate, Congratulate!
So in the pool report for the Obama's first White House State dinner, Politico's Nia-Malika Henderson tried to call out our fellow TEWW blogger and Pulitzer-prize winning culture critic Robin Givhan for knowing just the right question to ask White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers:
From Henderson's pool report:
"Desiree Rogers arrived at about 6:53 pm and stopped briefly to chat. Rogers said "We are very excited...everything looks great."
Robin "show off" Givhan, who is standing next to your pooler asked what everyone wanted to ask: "Are you wearing Comme Des Garcons?"
"Of course," Rogers replied."
Hey, don't hate on our girl's eagle fashion eye, congratulate! But this does bring up a question I was having myself. Some photos of the Comme des Garcon dress were more flattering. But the print version we saw in the Washington Post's Style section? Not so much. Something seemed a hair off about how the dress was bunching around the arms. The angle made the design seem better suited for the anorexic/prepubescent variety of body type that these couture gowns are typically made for, which is my problem with this "high" end fashion. They are designed for hangers, not women who are physically fit and well-nourished.
Teresa, what say you?
