You can now add one more person to the country’s dim unemployment statistics. After an internal investigation, the Standard Hotel has fired the person responsible for leaking the video of the infamous fight between Solange and Jay Z that took place in the hotel’s elevator.

According to the Associated Press, the hotel stated that the unnamed person was terminated for “breaching the security polices of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video.” The hotel said it was “shocked and disappointed” that the leak occurred and that it would turn over “all available information to criminal authorities.”

Us Weekly reported that “the video was recorded on a cellphone from the monitors in the back room.” Another source told the New York Post that the video was shopped for five days and went to the highest bidder.

“There are only a handful of people who’d have access to that tape,” added the source, who told the Post that the tape was sold to TMZ for $250,000. “The Standard owns that tape.” But “once it was out, Jay Z’s people felt they couldn’t control it. They were reluctant to try and publicly fight this.”

Well, if the person truly did receive $250,000 for the tape, hopefully he or she spends it wisely, because in this economy, jobs aren’t a dime a dozen. Or should I say $250,000 a dozen?
