Lauryn Hill Dedicates ‘Black Rage (Sketch)’ to Ferguson

Black rage is founded on blatant denial, squeezed economics and subsistence survival.

Lauryn Hill is speaking out against the death of Michael Brown, who was killed last week by Officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Mo. Hill rereleased her song “Black Rage (Sketch)” last night on her social network profiles. This recent version of the song was performed in her living room and is just as raw as the original.

The lyrics are not only haunting, because it’s a remake of “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things,” but also highlight the tribulations that black people still face in this country.
