(The Root) — A verdict was reached and announced on Monday in the case of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell.
The Philadelphia doctor was arrested in January of this year and charged with the deaths of five people stemming from procedures performed in a reportedly filthy, unsanitary office dubbed a “house of horrors.” He was found guilty of first-degree murder of three of four infants allegedly killed after being born alive, and one patient who died after an overdose of pain medication during a procedure.
The case has stoked the fires of a long-existing debate between pro-life and pro-choice advocates both on- and offline. When the news broke, Twitter users were quick to make their thoughts and opinions on the matter known. Here are some of their reactions.
Banning abortion will not end abortion. It simply means more unlicensed, untrained and/or unethical practitioners will harm those in need.

One thing I hate about this #Gosnell business is that pro-lifers and Republicans are probably going to make this asshole their poster boy.
