Sarah Palin continues to link the Obama administration to slavery, comparing the administration to slave masters. During a conservative fundraiser in Iowa, the former governor of Alaska told some 750 attendees that the federal debt will keep the younger generation shackled because of the country’s spending, the Des Moines Register reports.
Palin told the crowd to beware of “free stuff” because nothing is free, and that “When that note comes due — and this isn’t racist, but it’s going to be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to be beholden to a foreign master. Because there is no plan coming out of Washington, D.C., to stop the incurrence of debt.”
This isn’t the first times that the former Republican vice-presidential nominee alluded to slavery when speaking about the presidency.
According to the Huffington Post, Palin told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in March 2012 that Obama is “bringing us back … to days before the Civil War, when unfortunately too many Americans mistakenly believed that not all men were created equal. What Barack Obama seems to want to do is go back to before those days when we were in different classes based on income, based on color of skin,” Huffington Post reports.
During Palin’s Iowa speech, she also chastised her Republican brethren for giving in to Obamacare and said that she considered those who were willing to go to all lengths to prevent the Affordable Care Act from being passed as the “good guys.”
“Remember their promise that they would do everything in their power to fight against socialized medicine, against Obamacare?” Palin said. “When it came time to stand and defund it, they waved the white flag of surrender and they threw under the bus the good guys who did stand up and fight,” Huffington Post reports.
