President Obama will award researchers, scientists and innovators with the highest honors bestowed by the U.S. government.

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will award 12 eminent researchers the National Medal of Science and 11 extraordinary inventors the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, the highest honors bestowed by the United States government upon scientists, engineers, and inventors. This event in the East Room is open press.
