Mitt Romney (MSNBC)

Some of the most awkward moments of the GOP primaries have involved Mitt Romney trying to connect with Americans in different parts of the country. There was the time he proclaimed that the trees in Michigan were the perfect height, his soliloquy about visiting national parks with his father and, of course, the time he belted out the national anthem. The latest: Since he was down South this week, he joked (we think) that he now likes grits.

It's unclear whether anyone felt closer to the candidate after hearing that.

We're cringing a little bit just thinking about the efforts Romney might make to try to relate to black voters if he gets the nomination. Any ideas about what he'll suddenly love?
