Better than Nothing? Obama to OK Benefits for Same-Sex Partners

If you're gay and work for the government, this works out nicely. If not, you're probably still going to be ticked off...

Barack Obama still does not support gay marriage, but he supports benefits for gay federal employees and their partners.

Today, the president will sign a memorandum granting health care and other benefits to the partners of federal employees CNN reports. This move comes after criticism over Obama's support for the Defense of Marriage Act, which not only opposes same-sex marriage, but groups it with incest to support its position.

Obama & Gay Community Scorecard

-He supported Prop 8

-Asked Rick Warren to give the invocation at his inauguration

-Has not made steps to repeal military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

Obama claims he is "a fierce advocate for gay and lesbian Americans." Uh..."fierce" might be overdoing it Mr. President. How hard do you fight for people whose lifestyles you disagree with?

President Obama has clearly shown he is only down with the gay community to a point. Are his stances ones that can adversely affect his presidency?
