Nevertheless, Judge Sotomayor’s nomination presents an opportunity for blacks to do what Latinos did when Justice Marshall sat on the court—celebrate and embrace the addition of a brilliant, experienced jurist who, whatever her race, can speak authoritatively about and to the experiences of the most marginalized members of our society.
