A Florida middle school teacher was put on probation and ordered to pay a fine after reportedly making racist and lewd jokes during class, according to WFTV.
Lauren Ulseth no longer teaches at Lawton Chiles Middle School in Seminole County, where she used to be a technology-education teacher. The Florida Department of Education, which put her on a year’s probation, alleges that she called students “f–king morons” and made other inappropriate comments. Despite the claims, Ulseth can still legally teach in Florida.
One of Ulseth notorious jokes read, “Why is life like a bowl of jelly beans? Because no one likes the black ones.”
Another one read, “What do you call two Mexicans playing basketball together? Juan on Juan.”
“It’s very racist. Very racist,” one parent, Rosa Joy, told the news station when she read the jokes Ulseth allegedly made.
The other jokes were sexually inappropriate.
According to the report, Seminole County School District said that after the allegations came out, it suspended Ulseth without pay before reporting her to the state Board of Education, and then decided against renewing her contract at the end of the 2015 school year.
As WFTV notes, it is not clear where, if anywhere, Ulseth is teaching this school year.
