  • Bio:

Marcus Samuelsson recently landed a new gig on ABC's second season of the reality show The Taste as a judge, but he's no newbie to television, bright lights or celebrity-chef status. An award-winning chef and author, the Ethiopian-born Samuelsson won Bravo's Top Chef Masters second season, cooked for President Obama's first state dinner and was the youngest chef to ever receive two three-star ratings from the New York Times. And he continues to grow his restaurant empire. Along with his most-famous restaurant, Red Rooster Harlem (and Ginny's Supper Club in Red Rooster's basement), Samuelsson opened Uptown Brasserie and American Table Café and Bar within the last year. He also won the James Beard Foundation Award for Writing and Literature for his book Yes, Chef: A Memoir. Not bad.
