Less than two weeks after Jason Kidd retired from a stellar 19-season career, the player and philanthropist announced that he would be hanging his hat across the river from his former New Jersey playing base, as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. The move reunites the two-time Olympic medalist with the franchise he led to consecutive NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003, when the Nets played in New Jersey. Although Kidd has had no head-coaching experience, between his 10 times as an NBA All Star and winning a championship ring in 2011, the Nets brass is betting that Kidd's skills as a player and his relationship with point guard Deron Williams are just what the Nets need to get them to the playoffs and beyond.

  • Fun Fact: It was Jason Kidd who first suggested Jay Z's ownership in the Brooklyn Nets.
