From being Rep. Jim Clyburn's floor director to becoming the first African-American chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Jaime Harrison has come a long way. Hailing from Orangeburg, S.C., Harrison was raised by his grandparents, who made sure he was well-educated. It was in Orangeburg that Harrison began working in politics in 1992. He later would go on to become the youngest person and first African American to serve as executive director of the House Democratic Caucus for his state. Today, as chairman of the state's Democratic Party, Harrison is focused on winning more Democrats legislative seats throughout South Carolina.
