  • Bio: When it comes to matters of the heart, Christine Fleming Hendon, Ph.D., is engineering the tools cardiologists will use to save lives. An assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University, Fleming Hendon, who has a doctorate in biomedical engineering, is developing optical imaging and spectroscopy instruments for diagnosing and monitoring heart disease. These tools will give doctors detailed images, making it easier for them to diagnose abnormalities. It's all part of her work with the Structure-Function Imaging Laboratory where Fleming Hendon is the principal investigator.  Visit her website.
