  • Bio: Until this summer, Anthony Foxx was best known as the youngest mayor in Charlotte, N.C.'s history, and the man who brought the 2012 Democratic National Convention to town. July 2, he was sworn in as the 17th United States secretary of transportation. President Obama has said that it is investment in infrastructure that will spur the economy -- something Foxx is credited with doing with Charlotte's airport, highway and transit systems. The DOT houses more than 11 separate federal agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, and employs more than 55,000 with a $70 million operating budget. Many eye the bipartisan politico for a North Carolina gubernatorial run in 2016.Visit his website.
