  • Bio: The African-American vote will be a key decider in several battleground states for the 2012 presidential contest, and Stefanie Brown is charged with getting out the vote for President Barack Obama. A Howard University grad who has been a leader within the NAACP since age 14, as the group's national field director Brown led a national civic-engagement campaign. She helped register more than 200,000 new voters in the 2008 and 2010 election cycles. She has also helped organize rallies surrounding the case of Troy Davis as well as the Jena Six cases. "Stefanie has dedicated her life to empowering people of color to organize and advocate for justice and equality in their communities," Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina said in a statement in January 2012. "She is a natural fit for a campaign who's fueled by its grassroots strength."
