  • Bio: The captain of LeBron James' first high school basketball squad, Maverick Carter continues to be the brains behind the branding of his friend and former teammate. Carter has been instrumental in improving James' public image after The Decision, the infamous ESPN special that sank James' Q rating. They bounced back by partnering with Fenway Sports Management and receiving a stake in Liverpool, a European soccer powerhouse. Plus, Carter has helped broker deals on a number of successful business ventures, including representation of other pro athletes, endorsement deals with major companies (e.g., Beats by Dre headphones) and the production of dissolvable energy strips called Sheets. It's pretty amazing to realize that Carter was a 23-year-old CEO when he began managing James' career through LRMR Marketing, the company they formed with two other childhood friends. Carter dropped out of the University of Akron and took an entry-level job with Nike in 2003, launching his career with his smarts and his friendship with James. That gamble looks like it's paid off handsomely. Visit LRMR's website.
