  • Bio: Jason Moran creates original jazz compositions and reinterpretations of classics that stretch the genre's boundaries by blending classical, blues, rock, hip-hop, funk and the spoken word. In November of 2011, he was tapped for a three-year appointment as the Kennedy Center's artistic adviser for jazz -- becoming only the second person to hold the position. Albums by the Houston native and Manhattan School of Music graduate include Modernistic, Same Mother and Ten. Moran has performed with artists such as Cassandra Wilson, Wayne Shorter and Marian McPartland and won a 2010 MacArthur Foundation fellowship. He serves on the New England Conservatory faculty.   Like his Facebook page.
