  • Bio: As the tragedy of Florida teen Trayvon Martin's death turned the world's attention to the lingering problem of racially skewed justice in America, attorney Benjamin Crump stepped into the spotlight. As a lawyer representing Martin's family, Crump has skillfully drawn worldwide attention to the case. "There has been a lot of travel, a lot of media interviews with this case. It's been very demanding for me and the family. But I don't think there is a more important case in the world as this one," Crump said, according to BET.com. However, the list of civil rights cases in Florida handled by his firm, Parks and Crump, is long, including work on behalf of a teenage boy who was beaten to death a boot camp in 2006. In August 2012, Crump was hired by Ronald Weekley Jr., a 20-year-old skateboarder who says he was assaulted by Los Angeles police officers in broad daylight. Crump holds undergraduate and law degrees from Florida State University. Visit his firm's website.
