Shock value in rap has escalated from N.W.A chanting “F--k the police” in the hook of a song to an artist mutilating himself and then jumping off a building.

Forty-year-old Andre Johnson did the latter in April in Los Angeles. Before jumping from the second floor of a North Hollywood building after law enforcement ordered him to come down, Johnson severed his penis with a steak knife and also cut off his testicles, according to E News.

Although the Wu-Tang Clan-affiliated rapper suffered from severe injuries, he is alive to tell why he did such a bizarre stunt.

"I cut it off because that was the root of all my problems," the rapper, whose pseudonym is Christ Bearer, told E News. “My solution to the problem was the realization that sex is for mortals, and I am a god ... Those kinds of activities got me into trouble, and I came here to be a god."

Johnson admitted that he was using drugs—PCP, to be exact—the night the incident happened, but he claims to have been in "complete control" of his actions. According to New York's Daily News, he was studying literature about monks and vasectomies before the incident.

The only "Johnson" the rapper has now is his last name, since doctors were unable to reattach his penis. That doesn't seem to faze the rapper, though.

"There's no mystery to it, but they couldn't reattach it. A penis is a penis is a penis," he told E News. "My days of reproducing are over. But now I'm a reborn man." Johnson's self-mutilation came just two weeks before he welcomed a baby girl into the world.

Johnson was able to count more wins than losses, however. He's just thankful that he is alive and says this wasn't a suicide attempt. He was only responding to the "demons," according to the interview.

The rapper went to a psychologist after being released from the hospital but was discharged shortly afterward. Johnson, who is part of the rap group Northstar, reportedly says he's still writing music and hopes to sign with an agent so he can start doing stand-up comedy.
