Scandal actor Columbus Short briefly spoke about his wife's startling allegations of domestic abuse in an exclusive interview with News One Now.

When directly asked by Roland Martin about the charges, Short started laughing. "We have some amazing scriptwriters. Life has the best scriptwriters of all time. That's all I can say about that," he said. "I'm still here. I'm standing.

"I don't mean to laugh, but it read outlandish and it sounds even more outlandish coming out of your mouth," he added.

At the end of the interview, Martin thanked Short for appearing despite the current circumstances. Short called Martin a "friend," adding, "I always want to check in with friends and family letting them know don't believe everything you read."

In a separate interview with TMZ, Short is even more vague about the incident, saying that "everything" is great and that he did not know what "all the noise is about."

When the TMZ reporter went on to ask him if the allegations his wife made were true, Short responded, "Is everything your wife says true?"

On Thursday, news hit that Short had been served divorce papers by his wife, Tuere Short, following an incident in which he allegedly threatened her with murder-suicide. Tuere accused the actor of threatening to stab her with a knife and holding a knife up to her throat, in addition to choking her. He was allegedly intoxicated at the time.

Shortly after, the actor released a statement about the allegations:

As you all know, lately my personal life has been subjected to a lot of press. As much as I would like to provide my side of events, my counsel has instructed me that a Court of law is the only and proper venue to deal with such matters. Accordingly, I must refrain from making any comments even though that is very difficult for me under the circumstances. Thank you to my fans for your continued support during this difficult time.
