Broadway and rap aren't exactly two words one would ever really expect to hear in the same sentence, but it’s happening as Holler If Ya Hear Me, the Tupac Shakur-inspired musical, hits the big stage this year, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

The new musical was written by Todd Kreidler, who warns that the show is not a Tupac biography but rather uses the renowned poetry of the great rapper and paints a picture of inner-city struggle, including major themes of friendship, revenge, change, hope and family.

The late rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur, will help produce the show. Wicked's Wayne Cilento will be handling the choreography, and Kenny Leon, known for Fences and The Mountaintop will be directing.

No casting has been announced yet.
