Comedy Central's The Daily Show host Jon Stewart was left nearly speechless after 16-year-old Nobel Prize-nominee Malala Yousafzai, who survived a brutal attack by the Taliban last year because of her support for education, told him what she would do in the face of another assault.

"I would tell him how important education is, and that I would even want education for your children as well," said the native of Pakistan, who was on the show to discuss her new book, I Am Malala. "That's what I want to tell you -- now do what you want."

Her response elicited a standing ovation from the audience, and after a brief silence, Stewart quipped: "I know your father is backstage and he is very proud of you, but would he be mad if I adopted you?"

Yousafzai was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her courage in the face of death threats in Pakistan because of her advocacy for the education for girls. On Thursday, she received the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.

She was shot in the head and neck by a gunman on her school bus last year, according to USA Today. The shooter reportedly was sent by the Taliban, which adheres to a strict interpretation of Islamic law and forbids the education of girls. Following the attack, she went to England for surgery and gained national notoriety as the story of her courage and bravery came to light.
