Misheard 'Fresh Prince' Lyrics Lead to School Lockdown

Too ridiculous to be real? Or just a bad combination of heightened awareness and lack of familiarity with vintage Will Smith?

When it comes to school violence, you can never be too careful. But you can be too bad at recognizing old sitcom theme songs, it seems.

A high school student was detained for three hours, and an entire school district placed on lockdown yesterday -- all, according to local news outlet WPXI, because someone misheard the lyrics to the totally nonthreatening tune that opened up the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Police said a worker calling to confirm a doctor's appointment with an Ambridge High School student heard the theme song to the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" when she attempted to call. The worker said she called police when she misheard the lyrics -- which she claimed said "shooting people outside of school."

Too ridiculous to be real? Or just a bad combination of heightened awareness and lack of familiarity with vintage Will Smith? You tell us.
