(The Root) -- This Presidents Day weekend, join members of the community, activists, authors, politicians, filmmakers and visual artists at the Washington DC Jewish Community Center for the Race in America Festival. For two days -- Feb. 16 and 17 -- attendees can partake of screenings, performances and discussions centered on the role that race plays in the American family, politics and pop culture.

The standout performance of the event will be the Theater J production of David Mamet's Race.

The Root's own staff writer and White House correspondent, Jenée Desmond-Harris, will be a panelist in the Opening Plenary: "A Second Term for the First Black President: Considering the Impact of Race at the Midpoint of the Obama Era."

For the entire schedule of events and prices for Festival Passes, visit the DCJCC website. The Root is the digital media partner for the festival.
