Two college students had a few moments to kill while their home spa treatments took effect. So what else were they to do besides make a video of themselves saying, “We true Negroes,” and “We come from the black hood” and spew racial epithets?
To hear Rachel Cooper explain it, you’d think it was something that could happen to anyone: “We were doing facials and it happened to have been a brown facial mask,” she wrote when asked by a reporter about the clip. “We had to leave it on for 12 minutes. During that 12 minutes, we horribly decided to make a video that we regret and are not happy about … “
Cooper and her friend Jessica Heid have both issued apologies, and the University of Minnesota Duluth has condemned their behavior.
