MHP: An Open Letter to Richard Mourdock

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry addresses the Republican who described rape as the intent of God.

During a senate debate in Indiana on Tuesday, Republican candidate Richard Mourdock said, "I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen." The response to his controversial remarks has been emotional, especially from victims of sexual assault, many of whom have been outspoken in their anger and dismay at his comments.

One of these was MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, who during her show on Saturday read an open letter to Mourdock. In her segment, Harris-Perry said that as a survivor of sexual assault, she battles emotional triggers from her attack every day, and that judgement -- from Mourdock or anyone else -- is not something survivors should have to endure after their violent experience.
