On Thursday, host Whoopi Goldberg appeared to have nearly reached her limit on The View while interviewing Ann Coulter, Republican author and talking head, about her new book, Mugged. Coulter explained that the premise for the book is “that race-mongering has been very bad for America. Liberals use it to promote causes that have nothing to do with blacks and that, in fact, harm blacks … O.J. [Simpon’s trial] was the moment, having lived near New York in the ’70s and ’80s, which was sort of the golden era. It was like Trayvon Martin and Duke lacrosse cases everyday. With the O.J. verdict, white America said, ‘That’s it, the white guilt bank is shut down,’ and that ended up being the best thing that ever happened to black Americans.”
Goldberg, who’d already begun making disapproving faces at the show’s guest, finally spoke up. “If you’re going to talk about race, at least know what you’re talking about,” she said, to resounding applause from the audience. “Tell me about how much you know about being black.”
