Rihanna Kisses Chris Brown at VMAs

Plenty of people are disturbed, but is anyone really surprised?

In what was jarring to those whose image of Rihanna and Chris Brown as a couple was mostly defined by the 2009 incident in which he brutally assaulted her, but probably not at all surprising to those paying attention to more recent musical collaborations and public declarations of love, Rihanna and Chris Brown shared a kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards last night:

Sultry songstress Rihanna planted a kiss on ex-boyfriend Chris Brown at Thursday night’s Video Music Awards, shocking fans and audience members.

The pair embraced and went in for a quick lip smack as Rihanna, 24, left the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, after accepting the award for Video of the Year for her song “We Found Love.”

Footage verifying the lip lock prompted speculation there is truth to rumors about the couple’s rekindled romance, despite Brown’s relationship with model Karreuche Tran.

Rihanna called Brown, 23, “the love of her life” in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey revealed last month.

“We love each other and we probably always will, and that’s not anything that we’re going to try to change,” she said.
