Chris Brown's Tattoo: Battered Woman's Face?

A rep says that the image is "not of Rihanna, or an abused woman." But is a tattoo that requires that clarification really a good idea?

Disturbing news of the day: Mail Online reports that Chris Brown has a tattoo on his neck of what appears to be a woman's battered and bruised face. Making it even worse: "The face structure, arched eyebrows and plump lips certainly bear a resemblance [to] Rihanna, and the design has eerie echoes of the shocking picture that emerged of the 'We Found Love' singer after he brutally assaulted her in 2009."

In a recent interview, Rihanna confirmed that she and Brown still had a "very close friendship" and added that she "felt like he made that mistake because he needed help." Few would argue with her about the "needed help" bit, but Twitter was decidedly less sympathetic about the latest development in the troubled celebrity relationship (and apparently unmoved by a rep's assertion that the image is "not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported," or the claim that it's "Sugar Skull" associated with Mexico's Day of the Dead holiday):
