(The Root ) — On last night’s Single Ladies episode, “Finally,” in true season-finale fashion, the girls’ — and Omar’s — lives are left hanging in the balance with nail-biting, high-anticipation cliffhangers.
The whole crew’s love lives are on the verge of being forever changed. In the opening scene, a man bumps into Morgan (Cassandra Freeman) outside the boutique and breaks her perfectly-broken-in heels. His name is Kasim, and he offers to buy her a new pair, but she’s so flattered by his kindness that she dismisses his offer. Of course, Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy) doesn’t approve.
But Keisha has her own problems to worry about. Sean (Terrell Tilford) hasn’t returned her phone calls since she ditched him and their trip to Miami so she could bail Malcolm (D.B. Woodside) out of jail.
Raquel (Denise Vasi) is also still missing Charles. As she slips and tells the ladies that she loves him, he (magically) shows up at her front door with some good news. He secured a national advertiser for his magazine, and they’re hosting a party that he hopes Raquel will attend. Surprisingly, his new girlfriend, Padma, is the one who recommended it. Initiially Raquel doesn’t want to go, but Keisha and Raquel convince her.
Then Keisha receives a few scary text messages from her stalker — complete with pictures of her at different places over the last few days. Winston (Rick Fox) comes to investigate.
Morgan agrees to go out with Kasim and enjoys the royal treatment on her date. He buys her $5,000 worth of shoes and even takes her on a horse-drawn-carriage ride in the middle of Atlanta traffic. She is smitten but confesses to Raquel that she’s not sure how she feels about all the good attention. (Enjoy it while you can, Morgan!) But more on that later.
April (Charity Shea) and Reggie (Mark Tallman) are prepping to move to New York, but not before April has dinner with his family. If you remember, early in the season, Reggie’s mom didn’t take too kindly to her son talking to the mayor’s home-wrecking side piece. How will this go over?
Raquel shows up at Charles’ magazine party with her old beau, Antonio. They all seem to get along rather well, but Padma notices the look — and longing — in Raquel’s eye when she looks at Charles. At the boutique the next day, Padma stops by to offer Raquel an interesting proposition. She knows that Charles still loves Raquel, and she feels that she should give him the opportunity to be happy. Padma encourages Raquel to tell Charles that she’s in love with him, a gutsy move by both ladies. Omar meets a cute guy at the bar, and he instantly catches a good vibe. But since he has a boyfriend, Parker, he tells the new guy, Drew, that he can only be friends with him.
While Raquel, April, Morgan and Omar are dealing with matters of the heart, Keisha is in Phoenix readying a PowerPoint presentation at a real estate conference. But love follows her there, too. Malcolm demands that she speak with him and then reveals that he and Taylor are no longer together. But this news doesn’t faze Keisha — or at least that’s how she plays it off. She tells him that she’s working it out with Sean and doesn’t care about his “new revelation” that he wants to be with her.
