(The Root) -- For those of you currently in New Orleans for this year's National Association of Black Journalists conference, don't miss your chance to party in the Big Easy -- D.C. style!

Author Natalie Hopkinson, contributing editor to The Root, brings the remarkable musical tradition from the nation's capital to New Orleans with the book-signing reception for her latest tome, Go-Go Live: The Musical Life and Death of a Chocolate City.

Sponsored by The Root and the Washington Post, Hopkinson will sign copies of her book while you mix and mingle with fellow journalists and feast on delicious Nawlins cuisine from Café Instanbul, where the event will be held. And of course, to pay homage to the late Godfather of Go-Go, Chuck Brown's music will be blasting through the speakers all night. Admission is free, so don't miss out!

Where: Café Instanbul, 2372 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans

When: Friday, June 22, 2012

Time: 6-9 p.m.
