MHP: Sounding Off on NC Gay-Marriage Bill

North Carolina may ban gay marriage via a new amendment; Melissa Harris-Perry digs in.

A North Carolina state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and civil unions will be up for a vote this week, and MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry tackled the controversy on her talk show Saturday morning.

The National Organization for Marriage, a right-wing group, supports this proposed amendment and worked to encourage a split between African Americans and their black and gay counterparts surrounding this civil rights bill in North Carolina with the help of local groups like Vote for Marriage NC. However, North Carolina's numerous NAACP chapters aren't falling in line as NOM would have hoped.
