At Washington, D.C.'s Walter E. Washington Convention Center Thursday, fans gathered for a memorial service for Chuch Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go. Brown got sick in early March and died May 16 at age 75, but there's little doubt that the musical icon's memory will live on in the District.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said that he planned to name a park after Brown. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) said that she wanted to turn Brown's Aug. 22 birthday into “Chuck Brown Day." And D.C. Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown said that he planned to create a "Go-Go Hall of Fame," the Washington Post reports.
