Cornel West and Tavis Smiley Visit Colbert

West and Smiley talk poverty and their new book, The Rich and the Rest of Us, with Stephen Colbert.

Comedy Central

Princeton professor Cornel West and PBS talk show host Tavis Smiley stopped by Comedy Central's The Colbert Report to discuss their new book, The Rich and the Rest of Us.

According to West, 22% of America's children live in poverty. Smiley asserts that the "trickle-down theory" has made many people feel as if they've been "trickled on." Their book attempts to educate and bring about change. Colbert charges the pair with creating a class war through their book's title and demands that they explain themselves.
