Stewart Takes on Lowe's Muslim-Show Boycott

The Daily Show pokes fun at the criticism of the program.

The boycott of TLC's American Muslim by the Florida Family Association (which called it "propaganda clearly designed to counter legitimate and present-day concerns about many Muslims who are advancing Islamic fundamentalism and Shariah law") inspired hardware store Lowe's to pull ads from the program.

Since then, Russell Simmons has publicly criticized the Islamophobia behind the reaction to the show and personally purchased the remaining ad time to make up for Lowe's pulling out.

Money certainly helps undo the damage, but so does humor: This week, Daily Show host Jon Stewart took a lighter look at the event, poking fun at the very basis of the criticism of American Muslim, and "senior Muslim correspondent" Aasif Mandvi called for a boycott, not of the program, but of Lowe’s, for selling everything anyone would need to put together a primitive bomb.
