Michelle Obama has endured some horrible insults, but this one takes the cake. Mediabistro is reporting that Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) was overheard at Reagan National Airport on Wednesday saying, "She lectures us on eating right while she has a rather large posterior herself."

Politico is now reporting that he has since sent her a note of apology. Good.

We still have some questions: Why is he looking at her posterior in the first place? And what does her healthy physique have to do with her campaign to combat childhood obesity?

While she does indulge in occasional high-calorie meals -- including a burger, fries and chocolate shake from Shake Shack -- she clearly stays in shape.

Conservatives are reaching here. The first lady enjoys a high approval rating, and they will stop at nothing to try to tarnish her image. Radio host Rush Limbaugh went after her earlier this year, saying, "She doesn't look like she eats healthy." That message didn't go over too well, and neither will this one.

The good news is that conservatives are only making themselves look bad with these kinds of schoolyard tactics. Besides, only one man needs to be concerned about Michelle Obama's curves, and it's not Sensenbrenner or Limbaugh.
