Recently when he was given the 2011 AdColor Award, Spike Lee thanked Michael Jordan for giving him a chance to work on a Nike commercial together back in the days of She's Gotta Have It.

"I gotta thank Michael Jordan always," said Lee, who was recently featured in The Root's slide show Top Blacks in the Ad World, Past and Present. "He had not seen She's Gotta Have It and never heard who I was. He could have easily have said, 'I'm not f---ing with a guy who's never made a commercial before. Gimme some big-time Madison Avenue white boy.' But Michael was born in Brooklyn, so maybe that is why he gave a shot."
