Judge throws out suit against The Help author: Whether Kathryn Stockett used her brother's African-American maid as the basis for a character in the best-selling novel-turned-movie The Help is still up in the air. A Mississippi judge has thrown out a lawsuit in which Ablene Cooper alleged that Stockett used her likeness without permission, but it was because of a statute-of-limitations issue, not the facts.
