The Web is buzzing with news that comedian-actress Mo'Nique's BET talk show has been canceled by the network. BET has responded to reports by Media Take Out and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that The Mo'Nique Show has been canceled, saying instead that it is on a "production hiatus."

BET representative Kobe Swanson told EURweb, "The Mo'Nique Show will be on production hiatus beginning in the fall." He added, "However, new episodes of the show will continue to air throughout the summer. Mo'Nique Hicks and The Mo'Nique Show are important to the BET Networks family, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with her." Mo'Nique's sidekick Rodney Perry told EURweb that the show was on an "indefinite hiatus."

While we weren't huge fans of the show, it appears that many people were. We liked the fact that she included black and brown entertainers, who are often overlooked by more mainstream talk shows, in her lineup. We had not witnessed that level of respect for black entertainers at all levels of their careers since The Arsenio Hall Show. If Mo'Nique's show has indeed been canceled, we hope it is because of sound, business reasoning and not a petty disagreement.
