Legendary Pictures, the production company behind hit movies such as The Dark Knight, Inception and Hangover, recently announced plans to produce a biopic based on legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson. CEO Thomas Tull is set to produce, while L.A. Confidential writer Brian Helgeland will direct.

Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson, is said to be acting as a consultant for the project. "My family and I are thrilled to have this important film on Jack produced by Legendary Pictures," she said in a statement. "We are proud of his lasting impact on our society, and we know that the legacy he left is inspiring and worth preserving."

While the role of Jackie Robinson has yet to be cast, acclaimed actor Robert Redford is already set to play the role of Branch Rickey, the executive who signed Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers. "No one really knows the Rickey part, the political maneuvers and the partnership they had to share," Redford told the Los Angeles Times. "It's the story underneath the story you thought you knew."

This movie will definitely be worth seeing. We can't wait to see who they choose to play Jackie Robinson. Who do you think would be fit for the role?
